We All Fall Down

The gates stand tall and proud,
Like a monolithic reminder of days long past.
Memories of war and peace,
Interspersed by moments of nothingness,
As night is to day.
When the great door opens
And our destiny lies before us,
We must never forget the losses, the lessons,
That make us think of days long past.
They keep us grounded;
From slipping off of
The razor's edge.
The precipice on which we find a fragile balance,
Unity,
Or we all fall down
